Get to Know Julia

I truly believe that the first step to living a fulfilled life is learning what core beliefs lie beneath our behaviors. We live in a society that may not align with our own beliefs and ideas of success. It can be easy to lose sight of what we truly need in our life as our experiences are unique to us, the good and the bad. It is important to be cognizant of what is truly important to you in order to identify what matters most in your life. If we follow a societal path that doesn't align with our belief system, it can be challenging to find that genuine peace and happiness that we seek out in life.

I am firm in this belief because I have experienced it in my own life. I developed a deeper understanding of myself and, as a result, I am fulfilled in the life I lead everyday; being a kinder daughter, sister, and friend, and attracting healthy relationships and friendships that support the kind of life I want to live. Although I had studied social work in university for several years, it wasn’t until I engaged in my own therapy journey and began identifying the root causes of my anxieties and insecurities that encouraged unhealthy coping mechanisms and toxic relationships. It was scary to uncover parts of myself that I wasn't proud of and to dig into vulnerable moments in my past. I was able to trudge forward, despite the fear I felt towards the process, because of my caring therapist's encouragement. It was through this journey that I was able to identify my past actions as a divergence from who I am rather than a reflection of my true self.

This insight allowed me to change directions and I started a new path towards loving myself, expressing my emotions in a healthy way, and acknowledging my anxiety head-on without avoidance, putting an end to many self-destructive behaviors. This is a journey that takes time and healing is not linear. It is a choice I make every day where I continue to learn, grow, and feel good about who I am becoming. Therapy allowed me to dedicate intentional time and space to getting to know myself better and I am confident that this mindset would not have been possible for me without it.

Whether you are the “perfectionist", the friend with great advice, have a child who continues to have emotional outbursts without a known cause or the parent who never gets to fill their own cup; You or your child deserve a space to open up about anything and everything. If you need to set boundaries, process past events or learn how to validate your own feelings, we can work together on building these skills and understanding the core emotions behind your behaviors and feelings.

I strive to make folks of all ages, starting as young as 6 years old, feel heard in a trusting space where nothing is off the table. I am mindful that being vulnerable can be tough because I have felt this first hand in my own therapy journey. Through my warm and relaxed approach to the therapeutic relationship, I hope to foster a comfortable space for you or your child when stepping foot in my office, starting from the first session. This can be done by sending me an email letting me know what you hope to focus on in our meetings. It's okay if you can't describe this quite yet. Next, we would look at booking a first session or a complimentary 15-minute consultation call with me, whichever feels more comfortable for you to start. Please note, I do require a consultation call with parents of any clients who are under the age of 18. I look forward to meeting you!
