Get to Know Carly

Today’s world has become increasingly complex and difficult. It can be challenging for children and adolescents to navigate their understanding of themselves, in relation to the many roles they play in their life. Trying to navigate their future, friendships, and relationships all while simultaneously trying to learn and grow into who they are is never simple.

From as early as I can remember, I struggled in my transitional years as a young child and adolescent. I felt lost trying to understand my own identity and unique needs. At times, I felt an overwhelming worry about my future which was often coupled with sadness and anxiety around not meeting certain expectations. At the time, I was fortunate to have a great support system through family, friends, and a social worker at school to help me overcome these challenges, which were keeping me from being my best self.

We can all agree that childhood and adolescence can be an exciting time; yet it is also a time of change, transition, and uncertainty. Some of these challenges are a normal part of maturing and growing up. However, that doesn’t make them any less uncomfortable to experience and overcome. As a therapist who also has experience working within the educational realm, my priority focuses on children and adolescent well-being. I aim to support individuals with common struggles such as anxiety, depression, bullying, body-image issues, motivation concerns, social skills, and identity development. I strive to work collaboratively with the individual to help facilitate a deeper and richer understanding of themselves, focusing on their resiliency and strength in their journey of self-discovery.

If your child or youth is struggling, I would love to help them navigate these issues along their pathway to adulthood together. It is my goal to help them reach their full potential as they move into adulthood with the tools and knowledge, they need to feel confident, independent, and self- assured. Finding the right fit between the individual and counsellor is paramount, which is why I’m happy to offer a free 15-minute initial consultation to help determine if we would be a good fit to work with each other.
