Get to Know Emma

What does therapy look, sound and feel like? These are questions that are often asked about and considered by folks who are trying to figure out, and fine tune, the right fit for support in their lives. Human experiences are complex, unique and multifaceted, and I think therapy should be the same!

I take an eclectic, person-centred, and nonjudgmental approach to therapy to suit the needs of anyone who walks through my door. Clients can expect to take an active role in what therapy looks like and in developing therapy goals. Although my credentials say I am an expert in therapeutic approaches, I am not an expert in your life and your needs. The way I do therapy is fluid and can shift to meet your changing needs. I understand that what you need each session may change over time depending on what is going on in your life and I'm ready to go with the flow.

I bring my lived experiences to the table to form connections and develop compassionate relationships with my clients. As a queer person myself, I love working with members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I have years of experience working in brain injury rehabilitation, and my post-secondary education includes a minor in disability studies. I also am practiced in working with neurodiversity and enjoy the practicality of developing the skills of problem-solving and capacity-building with my clients.

Making the first step to reach out can be difficult, but I am here to welcome that first step and start from where you are. Counselling can be beneficial to everyone if it is at the right time and with the right clinician. If you think that I may be the right person for you and your therapy journey, connect with me by email to set up a phone or video consultation to ensure I am the right fit.
