Daily life can feel overwhelming with pressure to be the best, stress at school or work and feeling a general lack of connection with others. There is also much to feel anxious about with the state of the economy, global warming, and political unrest around the world.     

 

In my youth, I certainly lost sleep thinking about these same things: feeling more anxious and frustrated when what I really wanted was to feel happy and content. Seeking wisdom from others, I realized that while I cannot control what happens in the world, there were ways to divert my energy to more positive things. I focused on nurturing my relationships, being more in nature and enjoying the moment. I really discovered that life is about the journey, not the destination and that personal growth and strength often come out of struggle. This really worked for me, but I appreciate that everyone will have their own way of making sense of the world.   

 

As a therapist, I have been privileged to work with people of all ages and backgrounds. Every day I am humbled hearing stories of incredible courage, resilience, and strength in the face of adversity.  No matter what the state of the world, there is always much to be grateful for and so much goodness and beauty to appreciate.
